Strength and Conditioning Sessions

We have managed to arrange Strength and Conditioning sessions with Rob Milner on 2 evenings, working in smaller groups.

The sessions will be:

6:15 – 7:15 pm on Monday and
5 – 6 pm or 8 – 9 pm on Thursday. (only one of these times would run depending on majority preference)
Sessions will be at:
York Sport Centre,
University of York,
James Way,

YO10 5NA

To participate in the sessions swimmers MUST be 14 years old or older (this is their actual age, not age at end of year which they may be swimming as!)

There is a limit of 8 spaces per session and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Sessions are usually in blocks of 4 sessions which must be paid for in advance. The cost will be confirmed once we know numbers and if we don’t get enough interest the sessions will be cancelled. 

In terms of the session structure, Rob will be looking to improve athletic ability in the swimmers. Building what is known as ‘movement competence’, strength, power, mobility, flexibility and fitness (energysystem training). Squatting, pushing, pulling, deadlifting/hinging, jumping, plyometrics, speed work etc. These are all fundamental attributes to developing athleticism in youth athletes and reducing risk of injury.

If your swimmer is 14 or over please email to express their interest and indicate your preferred day/time by Wednesday 15th November. We will then confirm the start date and  cost of the sessions once we know numbers.

Please do not apply if your swimmer is under 14 as they will not be able to attend – this is the age stipulated by the Rob.
