The second of the three weekends of the Yorkshire Champs took place at Sheffield over the weekend of 11th and 12th Feb. There were 36 swimmers in action in individual events with quartets entered in 7 different age categories in the relays.
It’s difficult to know where to start to summarise the events, so we’ll start with an apology: Given the number of individual swims (80) only swimmers achieving finals (or very near misses), new NER qualifying times, national qualifying times, particularly fast relay splits, change of “ownership” of open age club records or Yorkshire Champs debutants are highlighted specifically. So apologies go to those whose deeds aren’t highlighted and indeed to any qualifying times or relay splits that have been missed out. These are checked manually for this article and a few may have slipped through the net. (In case anyone is now worried about missing out on a NER berth, qualifying times swum in the individual events are picked up automatically by the organisers when compiling start lists for championships!)
