We are delighted to introduce our new Top Coach Danny Martland who is already making a big impact on the Club.
Danny started competitive swimming aged five at Selby Swimming Club. He then moved onto moved to training with international swimmers such as Becky Adlington whilst at Nova Centurion in Nottingham during his time at University.
He was Yorkshire champion more than 10 times and North-Eastern champion 10 times. He has qualified for the National Championships every year since he was 14. When he was 17, he was ranked number 1 in GB for 50 metres Backstroke. In 2004 he was invited to the European Junior Championships, but could not compete due to a serious shoulder injury.
Danny has now been coaching for 4 years. He started at the University of York, where he helped them become the most successful team in the club’s history, breaking almost all club records.
